Amy's Ironman Coeur d'Alene 2010 Race Report

Matt was mostly out of commission for 2009, being a fantastic sherpa while I went and did the Honu 70.3 in Hawaii, and he had to watch from the sidelines, recovering from shoulder surgery. I told him that 2010 would be all about him, and he could choose our next event. The two main contenders seemed to be St. George and Coeur d'Alene, and knowing what we know now, we're very glad that Matt ended up choosing CdA. It was our first Ironman, and stomach problems kept him from realizing his full potential there, so he wanted some revenge.

Some background, for those who either don't know me or don't know Ironman. An Ironman-distance triathlon is a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and a marathon (26.2 mile run) back to back. You start at 7am and must cross the finish line by midnight of that same day. This would be my third Ironman. If you'd like to read my previous Ironman race reports, Coeur d'Alene 2007 is here and Lake Placid 2008 is here. I do not write short race reports. I will not be offended if you find them too long to be enjoyable and don't read them or this one.
